Congjiang County is divided into two by the Duliujiang River. The minority villages in the county boast blue stone paths, flower bridges, drum towers, wooden stilt-houses, and waterwheels, revealing strong ethnic characteristics.
Location: It is located in the southeast of Guizhou Province, neighboring the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Prefecture. It is about 450 km (279.6 miles) from Guiyang City and 286 km (177.7 miles) from Guilin City. The county lies on the National Highway 321 (G321) which is a major inter-city coach route linking Guangzhou, Yangshuo, Guilin, Guiyang, and Chengdu.
Physical Features: It is located at the transition zone between the Yunnan-Guizhou Plateau and the Guangxi Hills, with a complicated landform. Mountains and hills cover 98% of the area, where there are many beautiful valleys, peaks, karst caves and waterfalls. The forest coverage rate has reached 64%.

Transportation
1. Visitors can take the mini buses from Rongjiang to Congjiang. The last bus departs at 18:00 from Rongjiang. The fare is CNY 16. Visitors can also rent a car from Rongjiang, which costs about CNY 120 and takes 2 - 3 hours.
2. There are also buses from Liping to the county.
3. Buses from Kaili to the county are available, but the buses only run in the morning. If you miss the bus, you can take a bus to Rongjiang or Liping, and transfer to the buses to Congjiang.
4. Getting to Basha Dong People's Village: Public buses are not available. Visitors can take the mini buses (CNY 5 per person) or take a taxi (about CNY 30) to the village.
5. Getting to Xiaohuang Dong People's Village: there are to Xiaohuang village every day. The buses depart at 08:30 and 14:00 from the Congjiang Long-distance Bus Station. The fare is CNY 15.
6. Congjiang has been connectly with the China railway network and one can get to or leave Congjiang by train.

Local specialties: Preserved Fish, Roast Fish, Roast Fragrant Pork, Fragrant Chicken, Weijiu Wine of the Zhuang People, Cooked Glutinous Rice Pounded into Paste, Colored Glutinous Rice, Oil Tea, and Dong Cake.
There are many traditional festivals in the county, and most of them are in autumn and winter. The most famous one is the Dong People's Singing Festival held on November 28th every year.
